My 3 words for 2017

Share the love

It’s that annual time of year! A time to forget resolutions and instead, choose 3 words for 2017!

The concept is an easy one: choose 3 words to ground your head and heart throughout the new year. They can reflect actions, emotions, thoughts or simply be fun in nature. (I have one of these in my 2017 mix). Credit goes to Chris Brogan for the concept.

My 3 words in 2016 were Bliss. Blog. Believe. I give myself an A, C and B in that order.

For 2017 (and can I get a drum roll please)…

My 3 words – COMPOSED

Black and white graphic that says Let your soul stand cool and composed before a million universe. Composed is one of my 3 words for 2017.

I consider myself pretty calm, cool and collected in my down time. However, I would like to elevate this quality in my workplace.

Let me be clear – I am not a loose cannon or a hot head! However, I’m comfortable enough in my own skin to admit I’m not the best at hiding my stress levels when they elevate. My brain simply gets going in many directions and I struggle at times to quiet it. And breath.

Composed is my BE word for 2017.

My 3 words – TRAVEL

Two hands side by side painted like a world map with countries and water. Travel is one my 3 words for 2017.

Simply put, I’m spending way too many weekends wholly focused on errands, cleaning, laundry and yard work.

Again, let me be clear. I know we need to do these things, right? However, I still consider myself a Florida newbie and I want to travel and create more balance.

I had established an every other year travel goal from 2004 to 2012. I alternated between travel abroad and the Outer Banks in North Carolina. So 2017 will include weekend trips to explore Floridian coasts and state parks. Also on the docket? A return to Europe. I’m blessed because I’m at a place in my life where I can easily go with Bo. And we choose go!

Travel is my DO word for 2017.

My 3 words – DUDE

Ready to find one; ready for love. It’s really  that simple and I plan to put my head, heart and intent on this one. Since I am declaring this for all to see – oh yeah – it’s on. It’s a bit uncomfortable to publicly proclaim but I believe in the power of openness and energyness.

Dude is my SEEK word for 2017.

I welcome your thoughts and reflections on your own 3 words or a single word. Cheers to being, doing and seeking. Add #mythreewords if you want to join a greater social conversation.

I appreciate this every year. For the last few years I have tasked myself to follow this path of the 3 words. I need to get on it for 2017 because I have noticed that in the previous years I have stuck to my words pretty darn well. Keep it up!!!

Wow. What great 3 words!! And I totally support all three especially the DUDE one :). You are one amazing woman and will be one amazing catch to one amazing Dude!

For 2017 my words are:

Absorb (soak up the very last of my last baby baby days! They grow up way to fast and knowing this is my last baby makes me want to cherish it so much more)

Connect (my husband and I have struggled with finding time for each other with two young kids and a move to Fayetteville which took us away from family and friends who helped watch the kids so we could have date nights! Now that we are back in Greensboro I plan to take advantage of more dates with my hubby!)

Focus ( Now that I am back in school counseling in a city that I love I want to be the BOSS of my profession :)! I want to focus more on professional growth and diving deep into my love for working with children and families.

Happy New Year everyone!!

Thank you Pat. Does leave a soul a little vulnerable but I get schooled by people like you…who live with positivity and connectedness.

It has to be body, mind and soul (for me). Kinda funky (I know), but I have been thinking of he three words/motto since August.
Body-get your body where it needs to be. That can encompass eat more/eat less, eat right, lower that blood pressure ect…
Mind-smile and eliminate stress. Get your mind to a place where positive energy flows. “Glass 1/2 full not Glass 1/2 empty”. Stop complaining.
Soul-what ever your belief, do good and strive to be the best person you can be. Be a friend to those you just meet. Do good for those who aren’t looking and take a breath and be thankful for what you have!

Great words Deb and I hope they all come true, especially the DUDE one 🙂
My three words are:
study -really want to get into a proper course this year – nurse prescribing is the focus!!
enjoy -stress less and enjoy more, especially the smaller things in life
patience -I really want to be more of this. I need to work with myself, and let the pressure of life not get to me.
